It seems to me that I've already been here for a month or so. So many things happened during the last eleven days!
When all the Booksciene students obtained the introduction to our subject the professors were shocked cause they thought we would be just 50 - but we were 150! I mean, WTF?! Couldn't they ask someone how many students have enrolled?? Are we supposed to have workshops with 150 students now?!
The professors weren't much help with anything, they didn't know what classes we have to attend (it seems to me that all professors hate the new bachelor degree courses and refuse to adjust to the new system) or how to use the timetable-maker the university had set up two semesters ago. Well, we found our way (the American Studies professors had been very helpful!) and now we have our timetables and are ready to start studying tomorrow. I'm fine with my one, except for the "Study Skills"-workshop at 8:15 h on Friday (normally I refuse to get up before 8:00 h!) and the lecture on Friday afternoon which keeps me from going home over the weekends (one more reason to look forward to Christmas!).
I tried to get into the "Project Japan-Studies" but I was too late and the waiting list consisted of hundred students. I was told to try again next fall semester :( Now I don't have any extracurriculars and I feel a little like a lazybones cause everyone's participating in at least one activity (Marisara thinks about ballet and Kerstin auditioned for the musical-group and the choir) besides me! But I don't now how much time my studies take (I want to be extraordinarily good so I can enter the Master-programme afterwards) so maybe it's good that I have more time to adjust.
And more free-time also means more time to work on my websites! Maybe I'll finally open up an Icon-Journal (something I'd planned for more than a year now...>.>)! But for now you can find my icons here.

Awww...I love it here! I've moved into my new apartment at a student residence in Mainz last Wednesday and even though Freshman-Week hasn't started yet, I've already met some cool people and could make two new friends: Kerstin who lives across the street and also majors in Booksciene and Marisara who lives nearly at the opposite side of Mainz but shares her major and minor with me. All thanks to studiVZ! I can only recommend it for everyone starting college in a new city, it's much easier to meet new people that way!
On Friday I had to take the entrance exam for American Studies together with Marisara. I missed the bus so I was late but not nervous cause I thought it wouldn't be that hard (I mean at the end of my language travel in Boston I was in the highest level!) - I couldn't have been more wrong! We took the test online in the computer lab and after ten questions I just hoped I'll pass someway (you have to have at least 50 correct answers). Fortunately it was multiple-choice, so there was always a 25% chance xD We got the results immediately after we'd finished, 75 of my 100 answers had been correct - PASSED! Yay xD Marisara was really nervous before but also passed with 84 correct answers. But we both realized that if the level in the study is that high we'll get problems with our first paper - at the latest *lol*
My apartment is quite small of course (18 m²) but cozy, the only thing I don't like are the colors of the furniture, it looks like straight out of a retirement home *lol* I haven't unpacked everything yet, so my color-scheme isn't that visible (everything in my bedroom and kitchen should be pink/purple/yellow/red/orange and in my bathroom blue/green), the brown of the furnitures dominates the room. But it's cheap (about 300 Euros per month and free internet!) and most of the time I'm out anyway (looks like I suddenly have a life xD).
Today I'll meet some of my fellow students at the "Extrablatt" for Dinner :3 But now I'll play a little MissingNo (God, I LOVE this TCG! Join it!). Have a great week, I guess I will!

It looks like college is already changing me without me realizing it! I took a few "What's your college-personality?"-quizzes and got some very strange results:
| What College Fits Your Style? |
| United States Military Academy West Point, NY. You Believe in Service to God, and Country, and are willing to commit to that upon graduation! It may not be for everyone, but you would make a great cadet! Start writing your Congressperson immediately! Go ARMY, Beat NAVY! USMA.edu |

You're a star athlete!
With your superstar sports abilities, you'll probably coast through college on a full scholarship. (Or maybe not. We haven't actually seen you play!) Whatever your strengths are, there's no doubt you've worked hard to get where you are today, and you aren't about to let anyone take away what you've earned. You break the stereotypes of a typical athlete, because your life is about a lot more than brutal competition and post-game parties -- though you sure won't pass up a party when you're in the right mood. You're used to being treated like a star, and on some level, you appreciate all that recognition. But ultimately, you'd rather be respected by your close friends than blindly worshipped by an admiring crowd. Your family, friends, and fans expect you to accomplish a lot during the next few years, but you won't let the pressure get to you. You're calm, focused, and thrilled at the prospect of getting rich doing what you love.

I'm studying Book Sciene and American Studies but it looks like I'm on the wrong path! I'll immediately shave my head, do some push-ups and ask my dad to scream at me at the top of his lungs.
I hope they have camouflage suits in pink^^

...obviously. Otherwise I would've shopped way more clothes!
And I wouldn't have shopped in designer stores and not at Walmart (the No Doubt-shirt, a bit sheer but very cool) or Family Dollar (the tanktop, I bought it because I was running out of clothes. I basically lived in tanktops for three weeks because it was so friggin' hot - I won't wear any for the next five years...).
You may have noticed that I have a thing for comic-shirts - thex are just so cute X3 And the fact that I'm just 5'2" comes in handy here, I got the Keroppi-shirt in the children department at Macy's!
Anyway, I love to shop for other stuff such as...
THE IVY LEAGUE
I'm buying a mug and a pennant at every Ivy League-university I've visited as kind of trophies. I hope that drinking out of an Ivy League-mug will make me appear more intelligent or sophisticated...

If you've ever been to an Ivy League-University-fanshop (or maybe every university-fanshop, I've never visited a non-IL-college) you may have noticed those mugs and T-Shirts saying, for example, "Harvard Dad" or "Yale Mom". I was wondering if such stuff is available for my college too. Then I'll force my parents to wear them...although "Johannes Gutenberg Mom" sounds a little, well, silly (I got my StudiTicket and some brochures today, this feels so surreal...)
THE SOUNDS OF BOSTON

Most of these CDs I've bought used at "Newbury Comics" for just a few bucks. They are (clockwise from top): Bowling for Soup - Drunk Enough to Dance; Hilary Duff - Metamorphosis; Clueless OST; N*SYNC - No Strings Attached; A Cinderella Story OST; 10 Things I Hate About You OST, The Princess Diaries 2 OST; Never been kissed OST; One Tree Hill Vol.2 - Friends with Benefit; One Tree Hill Vol. 3 - The Road Mix
And yes, I also have a thing for soundtracks. And not a very exclusive taste in music for that matter.
STICKY&SWEET

America may be the country where you get two sachets of mayonnaise, seven sachets of ketchup, three sachets salt and six sachets pepper with a single serving of Hash Browns (I'm not kidding!) but it's also the country with the widest range of sugarfree gum. Especially the ones with cinnamon-flavor are amazing!
MAGAZINE-WHORE

After food I've spent most of my money on magazines. I'm reading basically everything, from gossip- to teen mags and - my latest obsession - housewife-magazines such as "Family Circle" or "Good Housekeeping". I dream about being a housewife somewhere in Missouri or Kansas...I'm not normal...
RANDOM CANDY

Aww...these Gwen Stefani-perfumes are so cute^^ Actually I just wanted to buy "G" but they were "buy one get one free" at Macy's and now I own "Music" too, $30 total...okay, they are just 10 ml each but I have too much perfumes anyway (including seven from a well-known singer from southern Bavaria...)

I've been to New Haven on Saturday (that means I can cross off Connecticut from my list - three states in three weeks, that's pretty good!) to visit Yale and it was...unbelievable! Not the campus - that was very big, very old and very Ivy League (though I didn't recognized any places from Gilmore Girls - theit wasn't shot it there, was it?) - but the "city" around it. New Haven is very small and it was like one big railway station area - dirty, poor and many shops were closed. Only in the near radius of the university it doesn't felt like I stepped right into the Bronx - scary!
It was a 2 1/2 hour by train from Boston to New Haven so I was pretty hungry when I got there and in desperate search of a civilized place to eat that wasn't Starbuck's or Dunkin' Donuts (I wasn't craving something sweet). Okay, I'm exaggerating a little, but I really didn't feel comfortable in this town. I got the idea of dining in an actual student dining hall on the campus and I went to the Visitor Center to ask if that would be possible. The man who worked there was very helpful and he treated me like I was someone important not just a tourist in unmatching clothes (I'm running out of clothes because it's so hot and I'm always outside sweating like hell!). But he couldn't help me and as I went on I finally found a grocery store with a buffett and put everything on my plate that I wanted to try...it was a big lunch. And right next to the merchandise shops, so I got my Yale-mug and stuff first before I started to walk over the campus, just to find out that every building closes at 5 pm! :( And because I was alone and not with LuckyDucky I didn't dare to enter the ones that were open but forbidden for non-students or sneak into a group of freshman (it was orientation-weekend or something). The only building I've seen from within was the Graduate Hall (it was open and nobody stopped me!) and so I could at least see a student lounge (also very old and impressive but unfortunately there weren't any Yale Daily News back-issues lying around!).
Back home I found a man in front of our frontdoor who desperately tried to call someone from EC Boston. His name was Salvatore, he was from Italy and his flight was two hours late, so noone at EC had come over to open the door for him (it was already 11:30 pm). I let him in and offered him to sleep on our couch because in appartement 5 (where he was supposed to stay) there was nobody home. I felt like I had rescued a lost puppy *lol* My roommates where already sleeping so I did this without their permisson but hey, the night before a Korean girl camped in our living room - if they can bring Koreans, I can bring Italians! But he didn't stay anyway, cause about 12:30 am someone from number 5 picked him up.
Do something good every day!
Does this qualify me for the girl scouts now?
And last but not least: I went to the cinema to watch "Post-Grad" yesterday, the new movie with Alexis Bledel. Though I loved it from the first minute on, I was a little disappointed at the end. The ending was somehow stupid and it felt more like the movie was about Ryden's (Alexis) (abnormal and incredibly funny) family than about her struggles with finding a job after college. Also it felt like I was watching a "grown-up Rory" cause these two characters had more in common than just the first letter of their name.
Nevertheless I recommend it to everyone, especially to LuckyDucky - but she will watch it anyway ;)

As I'd promised: An entry about Justin!
Justin is my teacher B, so I have him in the second period from 11 am to 12:30 pm every day and he's probably the person with the fewest facial expressions after Ottfried Fischer. When he came into class last Tuesday he totally remembered me of my English teacher back in High School (ha, finally I can say "back in High School" xD). He was like: "I hate you, I know everything, you know nothing, I'm the coolest guy in the world."
Later that day I had my elective class "Get Talking!" and one girl in there started to gossip about Justin and then Nicole, our teacher, joined and suddenly we were just talking about Justin for one and a half hours xD It looks like the other teachers also don't like him because he's always so serious, but it turned out he was just in a bad mood last week. He didn't know where his next job would be, either in California or in Korea, where he'd been for three years before and didn't want to go back.
And that's the funny thing about Justin I embraced pretty soon: He's always either talking about California or Korea! Really! It's like "yadayadayada and when I was in Korea yadayadayada soon I'll be in California yadayadayada but in Korea it's different". Sometimes I keep a tally of how often he's talking about Korea/California *lol*
And now he knows that he got the job in California, but doesn't know when exactly he will move there, maybe next week, so this is probably my last week with him.
I'll miss him :( He's not that energetic as Nicole or Sara (gosh, this girls are crazy, I love them!) but very ironic. And looking at him doesn't hurt either, he's kinda cute. And REALLY tall. He can touch the ceiling xD
...
Gosh, I'm so homesick right now. It's like "Yeah, I've seen it, Boston's nice but can I go home now?". I'm missing Germany, I'm missing my family and food that isn't fried or slathered in butter. And good chocolate.
I know I've great priorities.

Ha, I snagged a PC! x] If you're not rushing out of class it's really hard to get one especially because the other pc-room is closed today. The first half of this break I was talking with Ann-Sophie (it's scary, everywhere I am there's an Ann-Sophie..!) from France hoping that some teacher would pop up seeing us talking English and giving us a raffle ticket, a reward for talking English outside of the classroom. Every week there's a lottery and when you ticket is drawn you can win a prize! Yes you have to reward the students here for talking English because there's an extreme clique-thing going on here. All the Spanish (MANY!) are always together speaking Spanish and so do the other nations. That doesn't affect me because besides Cornelius from Austria there aren't any German-speakers around (It's already pretty hard for me to write my diary-entries cause I'm hearing and talking English all the time).
Yesterday I've visited Harvard University in Cambridge. To be honest, it wasn't that exciting. I went on a student-organized tour, passing all the important buildings, hearing the stories about the "Statue Of Three Lies" and that strange tradition to run down the street naked the night before the Christmas-exams, but it didn't floated my boat (I hope that's the right idiom here). The architecture I've seen in Quincy (a suburban town where the Walmart is located, I've been there on Tuesday) was way more appealing to me! Really, it was all SO American there, it was beautiful *_* I"ll snap some pictures when I'm going there again (probably tomorrow).
But in the end I've bought lot's of Harvard-merchandise (@luckyducky: Presents!! ;) ) and ate some pancakes at the International House of Pancakes.
Oh, I'm late for Justin's class! I'll tell you about him tomorrow, he should get his own entry...
Edit: Somehow the computers here have a wrong date and time and students are not authorized to change that, so don't trust the dates above the entries!

Finally an opportunity to write an entry here. I made it out of the classroom pretty soon and got a PC, cause unfortunately there is none at my appartement, there's only an internet access for someone who has brought his laptop.
The appartement looks very different from the pictures on the EC Boston homepage, the only thing that's exactly the same is the living room and I haven't found out yet how to switch the lights on in there. I'll have to ask one of my roommates. I live together with an Italian couple and a 35-year old guy from Spain called Pedro. They are all quite nice people but conversation is difficult cause, yeah, we have to talk English. But I don't mind, I love being on my own (@Grandpa: Sorry, it looks like I'm not losing my virginity this summer!). Yesterday, after the placement test (I'm at "Advanced" level, it's the second highest, I'm very proud of me!) I talked with two cute Asian girls (I think all Asians are cute...except the guy from Taiwan in my class, he looks like the fish from Ice Age who was frozen in the wall...), Kasumi from Japan and Yooji from Korea, but I haven't met them today, they are a few levels under me.
I already feel at home here. The weather is great, a little hot but it's bearable. I'm walking around in the city and feeling happy all the time^^ The only problem I have at the moment is that I can't live the way I had planned for this vacation, cause it's all more expensive here than I had thought. Especially meat, I pay four dollars for 9oz of pre-cooked chicken breast and fruits are also not very cheap. But the Italian guy in my dorm (it isn't really a dorm, it's an appartement.building EC rented two appartements for its students) suggested to visit a farmer's market on Friday, I think I'll do that. But for now I've googled the nearest Walmart, with the T it's not that far away and I can stock up on groceries there so I can spend my money on more important things...like magazines *lol*
Sorry for any grammar- or spelling mistakes, I don't have time to look everything up, it's lunch break, my extra-class ("Get Talking!") starts in half an hour and I haven't eaten yet.

A very merry Chrismukkah to everyone! Well, everyone will maybe just be Jenny who I've already greeted on MySpace, in the DFFF and in a letter, but I don't care (new years resolution #1: Make my LJ more popular or FINALLY open an Icon-Journal!).
I just wanted you to note this: I'm Harry Potter! Yes! I couldn't believe it at first, but now I'm fine with it.
I found it out a few hours ago, I was in the bathroom washing my hands and as I looked into the mirror I saw two scars on my forehead! They are bigger than the ones Harry got and only slightly arranged as a lightning but the most scary thing about this is that I totally don't know how they could appear!
My mother suggested that I just scratched myself with my fingernails, but that's too unspectacular for me. I already won 5€ in the lottery and got the packet I've waited for one week today, so there must be something magical around here!
It's a Chrismukkah miracle!
So, I'm going to watch the Chrismukkah-O.C.-episodes now and wait for the bell to ring in our living room^^

At this moment, history is written. We'll tell our children and grandchildren about the first African American President of the United States.
And the only thing I'm sad about is the fact I couldn't vote for him.

THE ULTIMATE SILENCE
October 12, 1998

Listen to the mustn'ts, child.
Listen to the don'ts.
Listen to the shouldn'ts,
The impossibles, the won'ts.
Listen to the never haves,
Then listen close to me ...
Anything can happen, child.
Anything can be.
~ Shel Silverstein
Nine years ago, Matthew Shepard was murdered for being homosexual.
What will you do to end the silence?

So, I've finally done it! I've got registered at LiveJournal and from now on, you can enjoy my miserable English.
I had four reasons for creating such a blog despite the fact, that I already have one (Vanilla Yume):
1. I've wanted an icon-blog for a long time and thought about making it on LiveJournal, because coding all that by myself would be much work. But I don't know if I can realize all my ideas here (that's why my hair's so big, it's full of ideas!)
2. I didn't want to be an "Anonymous" anymore, when I'm commenting Jenny's blog-entries.
3. It's SO American teenager and I ADORE everything which could in any way be connected with the US (oh, I think you'll read my thoughts about the primaries quite soon. I know more about American politics than about German).
4. It's easier to write an entry here than on Vanilla Yume (but it will take more time, because I have to look up every fourth word in my online-dictionary).
For a short moment I thought about pretending to be a hot Yale-student with an active sex- and social-life so you could read more than just the unimportant things which happen in my life, but I think you would've seen through this game pretty soon, so I gave up this plan.
So all I can offer you is stupid blog stuff, my thoughts on celeb gossip (hey, Perez Hilton became famous this way!) and maybe some icons.
...
I don't know anything to write about anymore.
You can count my grammar-mistakes if you're bored, I hand you a red pen.
XOXO
Maho

...
I don't know anything to write about anymore.
You can count my grammar-mistakes if you're bored, I hand you a red pen.
XOXO
